In the beginning, the institution was named as Sultan Teepu Model School but after sometime it was renamed as Tipu Model School. In 2012 the institution was registered with a new name as Tipu Shaheed School and College in reverence to the great freedom fighter, SULTAN TIPU SHAHEED, who fought gallantly against the expansionist and evil designs of the British Empire in South Asia, and eventually laid down his life for the sake of freedom rather than to surrender and submit the foreign usurpers.

The students of Tipu Shaheed School and College are motivated to make SULTAN TIPU SHAHEED an ideal for themselves and to follow his footsteps if need arises for the preservation of the Islamic Faith and the Freedom of our beloved Homeland, Pakistan, the fortress of Islam.

For this purpose, the 4th of May is observed every year as Martyrdom Day of SULTAN TIPU SHAHEED with honor and veneration. It may be pertinent to state that SULTAN TIPU SHAHEED had embraced “SHAHADAT” on 4th of May, 1799, while fighting against the British imperialist forces. According to a French historian, Tipu Sultan is one of the rulers of the world who preferred to fight till his last breath despite the fact that he had no hope to win the battle.
